HSE guidance has been updated to state that FFP2 masks must be worn by healthcare workers in all settings where they are caring for patients.
Respirator Masks
Respirator masks (FFP2) are to be worn by healthcare workers in all settings where they are caring for patients.
Respirator masks (FFP2) will also be offered to patients in multi-bed or open areas who are able to wear them.
This applies to all healthcare settings, including primary, secondary, tertiary care, the National Ambulance Service and vaccination centres.
Surgical masks
Surgical masks should be worn by all healthcare workers for interactions with other healthcare workers in healthcare settings where patients are not cared for.
